What gamification is and everything you need to know.

If you've come this far, it's because the subject of gamification is on your radar. It's important to remember that the subject of gamification can be applied to many different areas, whether at work, in education, in technology, or in other ways. With this in mind, we've created this article to help you discover what gamification is and everything you need to know about this universe.

Although it's still a little-known topic, it's becoming increasingly important and popular, especially in the corporate world. After all, times have changed and society is becoming increasingly active and questioning in the world of technology.

What is gamification anyway?

In simple terms, gamification is nothing more than treating a strategy in a playful way, i.e. transforming all the stages to reach the "finish line" or as we know it, the expected results, into a game format.

Using the gamification strategy helps the people involved in the whole process to become more interested and to achieve the expected objectives, or even to help solve problems, face challenges or even develop new skills.

Nowadays, the use of playful games has become increasingly present in people's daily lives, and is present in situations we can't even imagine, do you want to check it out? Take out your cell phone and look at your apps, see how many of them are apps that require you to pass a stage in order to complete a task, encourage competition or even earn some kind of reward for carrying out some kind of activity? Quite a few, right? That's what we thought.

Gamification is increasingly present in our lives, as this technique stimulates several of our instincts at the same time. This makes the use of games in people's lives increasingly active and generates healthy and productive competitive environments, as well as being much more fun for those involved.

Why is gamification so important?

In addition to all the benefits we've already mentioned, there are thousands of factors that make gamification so important and present in people's lives. With the growth of new technologies and the increased use of the internet, access to information has become increasingly accessible, for example: before we had the excuse that in order to learn it was necessary to copy as much information as possible, today it is no longer necessary, it has become clear that the term "learning by playing" really is a reality, because a lot can be learned just by using a simple game.

In addition to being present in education, gamification has become increasingly present in the corporate world. It has become quite archaic to think that the use of games within companies is something that can hinder productivity and team results. Today, games are used to further instigate the factors of increasing productivity, delivering results and, above all, engaging in healthy competition.

Without a doubt, it's clear that gamification only brings benefits when applied with purpose and in the right way. In fact, gamification has become a way for you to teach and learn in a light-hearted way and also to help engage the team with the company's objectives.

How to use gamification?

For gamification to be successful, you need to adapt a game to suit your needs and strategies. The most commonly used games are board games, as they are dynamic games that work well with team bonding and, above all, are easy to understand.

It's very important that in order to apply gamification you first establish what your objectives are and set these objectives as tasks and stages throughout the game. Once you have determined your objectives, it is important to determine which game model you are going to adapt, remembering that it is very important that it is something simple and easy to understand. Finally, it's important that the whole game is structured in a playful and fun way, so that all players reach the final goal engaged and without losing focus.

With gamification well applied and with the right objectives, it is possible to foster competitive, healthy and creative environments at the same time, always geared towards user cooperation and engagement.
